Brace Point North

I was out exploring West Seattle when I found two public access areas on Brace Point, which offer magnificent views of Puget Sound. To bring people down here I decided that they needed a couple quick and easy micros.

Vashon Ferry

Two points of land, Point Williams to the north and Brace Point to the south form the cove where the ferry to and from Vashon Island docks. At low tide one can still see what Native Americans call a "spirit boulder" south of the ferry dock. Native Americans claim that the boulder, Psai-Yah-Hus, is the dormant spirit that lived underground and caused landslides and earthquakes.

Please park at the parking coordinates and walk the remaining 360 ft as the street is for locals. I would only do this during the day, as to not attract attention.

Nice spot! I did find the hint a bit more spoilerific than I like though. It was an easy cache to hit while we waited for Endolyne Joe's to open for breakfast. As a bonus we watched the ferry dock.

I didn't even realize it was possible to drive down, until I saw the garages as we walked by. I wouldn't have wanted to drive anyway as it was so narrow and turning around would have been nearly impossible. I enjoyed the metal Salmon one of the neighbors had hung on their retaining wall. TFTH!

#59 ~ Great view and we enjoyed the close-up look at the houses in the area, too. A bitty baby slug was in residence in the cache, but I cleared it out. Log is in great shape.

This was not on the list we wanted to do but it was soooo close to another one we decided to give it a try even though we had zero info on it. Using geosenses we found it within minutes. THANKS!! I put the log into a tiny baggy I had, to help protect it from wetness.
